Back to Portrait
This week I have started attending Virtual Portrait class again

I tried plugging in to the TV set this time to see if it would help to have a bigger picture, but though it was OK for getting a longer view every now and then, it was still easier to work from the laptop screen. This week’s lovely model was Alice, and the looking down pose was quite difficult (for me that is, with my persistent tendency to straighten up faces!)
I used pastel pencils and Canson paper, I find the soft pastels make too much mess when I have to work in the living room! So far the booster I have in the spare room is not actually giving me much of a signal, but I must try and get it working as it would be nice to get back to the old SP’s again.

Yesterday I did do a quick soft pastel sketch on an odd piece of sugar paper, experimenting with just using pastels and no under-drawing which I was quite pleased with.( Subject taken from an old life drawing of my own.)

I will experiment more with using pastels ‘on the rocks’ so to speak.
