Our Theme this week for our Art Group was very loose, just an animal picture, any animal.

I can’t produce anything as imaginitive and beautiful as Franz Marc’s cats, but here goes.

Mark Rylance and Wolf Hall

I have recently read “The Mirror and the Light”, the third book in Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall trilology, which is as enthralling as the first two. I was reminded of Mark Rylance’s wonderful performances in the TV productions, and decided to attempt a portrait of him in character.

Virtual Portrait Sessions – Good idea – or Not?

I have now done several two hour sessions, with the model posing in their own home and just appearing on my laptop screen. Here are some thoughts.

Frida had many pets. Her letters to her family from her travels abroad are full of enquiries about their welfare. This picture is not a run of the mill dog or cat though, but an obviously quite shy young deer, who is definitely staying at arms length. such an unusual picture, lets see what I can do with it
